Pets
Dogs are commonly kept as both companions and outdoor guardians, and may freely move between indoor and outdoor spaces. Guests may not always expect dogs inside living areas depending on household habits.
Considerations:
- Large or unfamiliar dogs may cause discomfort indoors
- Close contact (jumping, licking) may be unwelcome to some guests
- Dogs near food preparation or dining areas can be seen as unhygienic
- Clear boundaries and control help maintain guest comfort
Cats are generally well accepted and often allowed to move freely indoors and outdoors. Most guests are comfortable with their presence but may prefer limited interaction
Considerations:
- Avoid cats on kitchen counters and dining tables
- Be mindful of guests with allergies or those who prefer no contact
Rodents (such as hamsters or similar small pets) are not very common in many households, though still understood as pets. Guests may be curious but not necessarily comfortable with handling them.
Considerations:
- Keep rodents securely housed in cages at all times
- Place enclosures in calm, clean areas away from shared dining or sleeping spaces
